Circle’s USDC Grant Powers UN’s Digital Humanitarian Aid Modernization
Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has announced a grant to support the United Nations' Digital Hub of Treasury Solutions (DHoTS) initiative. The funding aims to streamline humanitarian aid payments through blockchain technology, building on previous successful deployments like the 2022 USDC aid program for displaced Ukrainians.
The partnership seeks to address inefficiencies in legacy financial systems by implementing stablecoin-based infrastructure. UN officials highlight the potential for significant cost reductions and faster fund distribution, which is particularly crucial given the current strains on global humanitarian budgets.
This development was unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, marking another step in Circle's collaboration with international organizations to demonstrate cryptocurrency's real-world utility beyond speculative markets.
